Human Resources and Operations Specialist

Salary is commensurate with experience. Salary ranges from $58,000 to $70,000.


We recommend and implement 401(k)s, 403(b)s, Defined Benefit Plans, SEP & Simple IRAs, ROBS, ESOPS, Church Plans, and even retirement plans for Cannabis companies. Through our open architecture recordkeeping services, we provide investment advisors, managers, plan sponsors and participants access to traditional and non-traditional investments. 


Essential Job Duties

  • Collaborates with management team, consultants and vendors to develop programs and policies that support the company’s position as an Employer of Choice. 
  • Performs routine activities necessary to administer and execute human resource programs including but not limited to compensation, benefits, and leave; disciplinary matters; disputes and investigations; performance and talent management; productivity, recognition, and morale; occupational health and safety; and training and development. 
  • Maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law, translating into recommendations for the business. 
  • Regularly evaluates the market to maintain competitive compensation and benefits programs and practices. 
  • Recruiting, interviewing, on-boarding and orientation of new team members. 
  • Oversees strong employee relations practices to support a safe, healthy and positive workplace. 
  • Administers performance management and employee development programs; run, analyze, and provide insight into successes, areas for improvement, and trends. 
  • Maintains comprehensive employee personnel files and timely processes changes. 
  • Creates and coordinates employee activity programs that support our company values and culture.  
  • Supports management with performance management, counselling, coaching and problem resolution 
  • Engages organization with assessment tools and use data to develop programs and action plans that enhance employee engagement, inclusion, satisfaction and connection. 
  • Processes multi- state payroll. 
  • Maintains compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices; reviews policies and practices to maintain compliance. 
  • Administers healthcare (medical, dental, vision, etc.) and retirement plans. 
  • Leads optimization and employee utilization of HRMS (Human Resource Management System) / HRIS (Human resource information system) and support systems to provide an innovative employee experience. 
  • Provides key data, reporting and analysis to leadership supporting decision-making that positively impacts broader organizational objectives and workforce strategies. 
  • Performs other projects as requested. 


Minimum Qualifications 

  • 3-5 years of HR experience with a focus on talent acquisition, recruiting, total rewards, HR systems and analysis, payroll, compensation, performance review programs, compliance programs and employee relations. 
  • Previous experience in leading workforce and people strategies in an operationally diverse organization. 
  • Knowledgeable of researching and understanding wage and hour laws across the US given the nuances state to state, FMLA, ADA, FLSA, DOL, OSHA, HIPAA, EEOC, COBRA and other labor and employment laws. 
  • Enthusiastic and energetic thought leader who thrives in a collaborative environment and has a creative, engaging, and people-focused attitude. 
  • Creative problem solver who can navigate current challenges while strategically planning for periods of growth and work in a very fast-paced, ever-evolving environment. 
  • Superb interpersonal skills with the ability to develop and maintain effective relationships with senior business leaders, managers, and peers. 
  • Exceptional written and oral communication skills with strong negotiation and influencing skills. 


Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, human resources or a related field. 
  • PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP. 
  • Experience in the retirement plan industry. 


Physical Demands and Work Environment

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. 
  • The employee is frequently required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and reach with hands and arms. 
  • The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
  • The work environment is usually an indoor setting with infrequent exposure to outside elements. This position requires less than 5% of travel.
  • The person in this position occasionally needs to move about inside a home office environment to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc.
  • Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery such as a printer.
